Welcome to the first ever New ChallengerZ League for Dragon Ball FighterZ! This is a weekly rank open season of 8 tournaments, culminating in an Invitational tournament at the end of the season consisting of qualifying players via a points system (mimicking CPT rules). Rules are as follows:

  • Must be a member of the New Challenger discord
  • Must own DBFZ on PC, and be in the North America region
  • Must check-in here on Challonge within 1 hour of the tournament start time
  • Brackets will be shuffled at start time
  • All matches best of 3 until Top 4, which will be best of 5.
  • A tournament lobby and password for ring battles will be designated specifically for the tournament. This will usually be any random empty lobby to ensure users have an easy time finding one another.
  • Invite among yourselves via passworded ring lobbies, then record the results on challonge. It's the winner's responsibility to make sure challonge is updated accurately. Enter the end score, and click your name at the prompt. If there's any problem, let one of the @Tournament Organizers know in chat.
  • If you get the "no rooms found" error, exit and re-enter the lobby via the gate attendant until it's resolved.
  • If you get the "room is full" error, try setting your "Download Region" in your Steam settings to match the host's, then restart the game.
  • Character switch not allowed after a win, however you can alter your team order by holding an assist button at the vs screen.
  • Up to top 8, tournament will progress one round at a time, with one match randomly chosen for the stream each round. Wait for the signal in the discord #tournaments channel before starting the next round.
  • If you are a no show for your match by the time others in your round have finished, your opponent is given a bye.
  • Once we reach top 8 (as indicated on the bracket), every individual match will be streamed in the order of their numbers on challonge, so wait for the invite after that point. Feel free to spend some time in the lab if it'll be a while til your next match.
  • In the event of unplayable lag (delay hits ~15 or game stutters excessively), players reserve the right to stop the match and request a lag check at which point we'll allow time for both players to restart their internet connections, lower game settings, and DQ if only one player is causing the lag. You must request this, otherwise the TO's will assume you're okay with playing through the lag. Every player is entitled to one lag check per tournament, to prevent abuse.

Points Breakdown:

The season finale invitational tournament will consist of 16 slots, 15 of which will be determined by highest total points by the end of the season. The final slot can be filled by the winner of the 8th and final tournament, which will serve as a "Last Chance Qualifier". Points breakdown is as follows:

General Participant Code of Conduct:

It is extremely disrespectful to other participants, viewers, and TO's to sandbag, collude, randomselect, or intentionally throw matches. Participants who disrespect the tournament format in this manner are subject to immediate disqualification at the TO's discretion.

Understand that you may not get the best possible connection if your match-up is East Coast vs. West Coast. While we would all like to play in minimal delay this is simply not possible. The best we can offer is a single remake of the lobby using  a different stage, or time for players to reset their connections. Additionally, players who have  been determined to have consistently poor connections may be disqualified, depending on a case-by-case basis. We understand that playing in a high latency connection can be frustrating but please play to the best of your ability regardless.

Participants are entrusted via the Honor Code with reporting their scores correctly. If you believe something was incorrectly scored please have screenshots and message a TO in Discord.

Being disruptive or disrespectful to other players may result in a disqualification, mute, and/or strike towards a ban from the discord and future events.
